Review: 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Falls Short of Predecessors

In 2001, at the age of 18, I had already been introduced to the original "Planet of the Apes" movie by my dad. Fast forward to the remake by Tim Burton with Mark Wahlberg in the lead role. Despite not being particularly fond of the original and having mixed feelings about Burton's recent works, I found myself oddly excited about this new rendition.

However, my anticipation was met with disappointment as the movie fell short of expectations. Then, in 2011, came the reboot "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," which pleasantly surprised me with its quality. Subsequently, under the direction of Matt Reeves, the franchise soared with two outstanding films, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "War of the Planet of the Apes." These movies were not only entertaining but also well-crafted, beautifully shot, and exceeded my initial expectations.

"War of the Planet of the Apes" provided a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. However, as it's now 2024, the temptation to extend a successful franchise persists. With "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" released, albeit without Reeves at the helm, I was intrigued to see how it fared.
