San Martín (T) Wins at La Ciudadela to Become Sole Second Place in Zone A

Well-deserved, absolutely. San Martín de Tucumán defeated Patronato 2-0 at La Ciudadela, moving within one point of their namesake from San Juan. The challenge awaiting the Ciruja was not easy, but they handled it well.

Playing on their home turf with their fans always provides an advantage, though there were moments of restlessness in Tucumán. Last week, the team had been knocked out of the Copa Argentina by Almirante Brown. Despite this, they managed to bounce back strongly. The Translator's team completely dominated Patronato on the pitch.

The first goal came from Nahuel Banegas, who executed a five-star finish with his heel after a deflected free-kick. Later, Gonzalo Klusener sealed the match following another set-piece cross, despite being offside, which the linesman missed.

The victory was well-earned for the Tucumán team. They were superior throughout the match. Given the numerous goal-scoring opportunities they created, it was inevitable that one would find the back of the net. The only reason the Paraná team didn't concede more goals was thanks to their goalkeeper, Julio Salvá, who unfortunately had to leave the game due to an injury in the second half.

With this victory, San Martín showcased their character and declared, "Here we are," positioning themselves as the sole runner-up in Zone A. Despite Diego Pozo's debut on the bench, Patronato remains struggling. The team, which not long ago won the Copa Argentina, is now just two points away from direct relegation. One side left the match happy, while the other remains deeply concerned.
