ITV Britain's Got Talent Finalist Faces 'Awkward' Live Blunder After Revealing Alesha Dixon 'Secret'

The final round of the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals kicked off on Friday (May 31), and one finalist made an awkward blunder when he revealed Alesha Dixon's 'secret' live on air.

The remaining acts performed in front of judges Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell, competing for a spot in Sunday's grand finale (June 2). Among the performers was magician Trixy, who wowed the audience with his impressive tricks.

During his act, Trixy involved the audience and judges, borrowing Amanda Holden's phone and seeking input from Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell. However, before speaking with Alesha Dixon, Trixy slipped up.

Alesha was scheduled to perform her latest single as a special guest star for the last semi-final of the week. Despite viewers not yet seeing her performance, Trixy inadvertently revealed it was pre-recorded.

Before continuing his act, the magician asked Alesha how she was, adding, "Alesha, loved the performance by the way," to which she awkwardly replied, "Thank you." Fans quickly noted the error on X (formerly Twitter).

@superTV247 wrote, "I’m crying at this magician saying 'nice performance Alesha!' to Alesha Dixon who is… performing ‘live at the end of the show’ the realization was excruciatingly awkward #BritainsGotTalent."

@_DundeePerfect_ said, "There was me thinking Trixy was a time traveler when he congratulated Alesha on her performance, but then the time Amanda goes to sleep was too random a number to be random. Show looks to be like the critics say, not Live."

@RyanTheSoapking wrote, "Trixy literally exposed that Alesha's performance wasn't LIVE but they still act like it was anyway," while @Trillo7359 added, "Trixy in the final for revealing 'nice performance Alesha' before she had even performed on TV #BGT #BritainsGotTalent."

@DaiRich81 noted, "Alesha not in her seat like it’s live when Trixy already said he’d seen it #BGT," and @dean_barney_ joked, "Alesha prepping for her ‘live’ performance now! Hope Trixy likes it."

Another fan, @LewisJ815, wrote, "Obsessed with Trixy outing Alesha for pre-recording her 'live' performance #BGT," while @Phillips1Luke echoed, "Trixy accidentally dropping it in that Alesha’s performance is pre-recorded #BGT."

In related news, Amanda Holden joked that Britain's Got Talent being extended could disrupt her holiday plans. There are rumors that the ITV show might air more episodes next year. During an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Holden confirmed that the judges had heard the speculation but quipped that a longer run could interfere with her trips to the Cotswolds.

Journalist Richard Arnold discussed the supersizing speculation with the judges backstage. Holden mentioned loving the idea but admitted, "It just means I can't get to the Cotswolds!"

Tonioli and Dixon expressed enthusiasm about a longer series, with Dixon adding, "Yeah, and it is such an event when it comes around. And it is so warm and it brings so much joy—why not have it last a little bit longer?"

The Britain's Got Talent final airs on ITV at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, with the winner receiving £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.
