 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Meets His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan



Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.


The Prime Minister and the King expressed their deep concern about the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the humanitarian consequences of the Israeli military offensive in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. They emphasized the importance of all parties respecting international humanitarian law, ensuring humanitarian aid access to affected areas, and protecting civilians. They also stressed the urgent need for a humanitarian ceasefire and the release of hostages.


The two leaders discussed the importance of promoting peace and security in the Middle East. The Prime Minister thanked the King for Jordan’s leading role in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, fostering dialogue, and promoting stability in the region, as well as paving the way for a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.


Prime Minister Trudeau and His Majesty King Abdullah II highlighted the strong partnership between Canada and Jordan. They expressed their enthusiasm for enhancing cooperation on international peace and security.
