NEW YORK- A Delta flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was diverted to New York's Kennedy Airport on Wednesday after passengers were served spoiled food, airline officials reported.
The redeye flight departed from Detroit at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday and landed in New York at 4 a.m. after it was reported that some of the Main Cabin in-flight meals were spoiled, according to a Delta spokesperson.
A Port Authority spokesperson for New York and New Jersey, which manages the airport, said that upon landing, 14 of the 277 passengers and 10 crew members were treated by medical personnel. None required hospitalization.
The total number of passengers who consumed the spoiled food remains unclear.
Delta announced it would investigate the incident. "This is not the service Delta is known for, and we sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay in their travels," the Delta spokesperson said.
The Port Authority stated that passengers were being accommodated with hotel rooms and all would be rebooked to continue to their destinations.
