Alabama's Thrilling Win Over Georgia Highlights Action-Packed College Football Saturda
No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide pulled off one of the most exciting victories of the college football season on Saturday, edging out No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs 41-34 in a dramatic showdown.
Alabama dominated the first half, surging to a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter, with Georgia quarterback Carson Beck throwing two costly interceptions. The Crimson Tide entered halftime with a commanding 30-7 advantage, seemingly in control.
However, Georgia mounted an impressive comeback in the second half. The Bulldogs chipped away at the lead, narrowing the gap to 33-15 by the end of the third quarter. They then scored three unanswered touchdowns to take a stunning 34-33 lead with just 2:31 left in the game.
Alabama wasted no time in responding. On the very next play, quarterback Jalen Milroe connected with freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams for a 75-yard touchdown to reclaim the lead. Williams showcased his agility by spinning past defenders and sprinting into the end zone. "I just had to do my part in helping us finish that game," the 17-year-old said after the game. "We’d come too far. Somebody had to make a play."
Carson Beck led Georgia on a final drive but threw his third interception of the game in the end zone, sealing the win for Alabama, who improved to 4-0. Georgia, now 3-1, suffered their first loss of the season.
Elsewhere, Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli, impressed in No. 1 Texas’ 35-13 victory over Mississippi State, marking the Longhorns' first SEC win. Manning, completing 26 of 31 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns, helped lead Texas to a 5-0 start despite several offensive mistakes, including eight penalties. The Longhorns’ defense also played a crucial role in the win.
In Oxford, Kentucky Wildcats stunned No. 6 Ole Miss 20-17, securing their highest-ranked road win since 1977. The Wildcats’ defense held Ole Miss' high-powered offense in check, much to the frustration of Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin. Kentucky converted a critical fourth down on their final drive, ultimately scoring the game-winning touchdown. Ole Miss had a chance to tie the game, but kicker Caden Davis missed a 48-yard field goal attempt, sealing Kentucky's upset win.
“It was a hard-fought, tough game,” said Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops. “I’m just proud of our coaches for staying the course. We’ve gotten better each week, and I couldn’t be more proud of the effort.”
Meanwhile, No. 12 Michigan survived a scare against Minnesota, holding on to win 27-24 after leading 24-3 through three quarters. The Wolverines' defense forced two turnovers, recorded four sacks, and blocked a punt in front of a crowd of 110,340 fans. However, Minnesota staged a late comeback, scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Their rally was cut short by a controversial offside penalty with 1:40 left in the game, allowing Michigan to escape with the win.
