Jalen Hurts 'Heartbroken' Over Passing of Legendary R&B Singer

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was once asked which album he would choose if he could only listen to one for the rest of his life.

There’s a live album by Frankie Beverly that I always listen to. It’s that one Hurts said, holding up Maze’s Live in New Orleans. I could listen to this forever. The live-album vibe makes you feel like you’re really there. My favorite tracks are ‘Happy Feelin’s’ and ‘Joy and Pain

Beverly, the lead singer of Maze, performed the iconic live concert at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans in 1980, which was released as an album in 1981. When news broke of Beverly’s passing, it deeply affected Hurts.

His timeless music, powerful words, and lasting impact,” Hurts wrote on social mediaI’m devastated to hear about this one. My prayers go out to the Beverly family and all the Frankie fans worldwide! His legacy will live on forever. Rest easy, my friend. Long live Frankie.

Hurts, who led the Eagles to a 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers in their season-opener in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will make his home debut for the 2024 season on Monday. The Eagles will face the Atlanta Falcons at 7:15 p.m. CDT at Lincoln Financial Field, with the game broadcasted on ABC and ESPN.
