"Streamer Jack Doherty Wrecks McLaren During Live Broadcast"

YouTuber and Kick streamer Jack Doherty crashed his 2024 McLaren on Saturday morning while live-streaming during a rainstorm, reportedly distracted by his phone. Despite the dangerous conditions, Doherty kept the cameras rolling as he lost control of the car, hydroplaned across the road, and collided with a security barrier. The crash occurred while he was broadcasting to an audience of 185,000 viewers on Kick, according to Sportskeeda. Following the incident, his Kick account was taken down for violating the platform’s 13th guideline, which requires streamers to follow local laws and prioritize safety at all times.

Road & Track reached out to Kick for comment on the ban, but no response has been provided yet.

Doherty had purchased the McLaren for $202,850 at the end of last year and had since customized it with a unique paintball gun splatter wrap and a custom exhaust system. The car was declared totaled after the crash.

After getting out of the wrecked vehicle, Doherty filmed his cameraman, Michael, who appeared dazed and was bleeding from a head injury. Doherty asked if his friend was okay before both were taken to the hospital, where Michael received stitches.

Victoria Beaver, a motorsports writer who divides her time between race tracks and unconventional adventures, reported the story. She currently drives a 2010 Subaru and is building a 42-foot converted school bus for future travels.
