For the second time this month, a showdown between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets went down to the wire, and once again, the Pistons came up short.
The Pistons fell to the Hornets in a nail-biting overtime finish, 123-121, dropping their season record to 7-10. This follows their Nov. 6 loss to Charlotte, where a buzzer-beating tip-in by Brandon Miller sealed the game after a crucial defensive lapse.
Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with an impressive stat line of 27 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds but exited late in the fourth quarter after a hard fall. Turnovers were a persistent issue, as Cunningham accounted for five of Detroit's 19 miscues, which the Hornets converted into 25 points.
Tobias Harris delivered a strong performance, contributing 26 points on an efficient 10-for-15 shooting, along with seven rebounds. He was particularly clutch, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Despite their efforts, the Pistons couldn't close the game, leaving them searching for consistency in tight contests.
