Mike Tyson declared that "the devil himself" would appear in his upcoming boxing match against Jake Paul on Friday night, and he gave Paul a taste of that intensity during Thursday's weigh-in.
After Tyson tipped the scales at 233 pounds, he approached Paul for their final stare-down before Friday's showdown at AT&T Stadium. Paul, weighing in at a career-high 220 pounds, boldly lunged forward from a crouched position to get in the face of the former heavyweight champion.
Tyson responded by delivering an open-handed slap to Paul’s face as he encroached on Tyson's personal space. Security quickly intervened, separating the two as Paul laughed, taunted Tyson, and played to the crowd.
According to a source close to Tyson, the slap was triggered by Paul "deliberately" stepping on Tyson’s foot during the face-off. The source mentioned that Tyson had grown tired of Paul’s trash talk, and the foot-stomp was the final straw.
