Matt Gaetz as Attorney General has left Justice Department veterans alarmed, warning that his appointment could lead to a Justice Department embroiled in chaos and retribution. Gaetz, a polarizing Republican known for his fervent loyalty to Trump, has generated resistance on Capitol Hill, making his confirmation uncertain. However, the nomination itself sends a strong message about Trump’s expectations for the DOJ in his second term: a preference for an unwavering loyalist willing to pursue Trump’s agenda without restraint.
