Melanie Sykes Reveals Gregg Wallace Prompted Her Exit from TV
Melanie Sykes has disclosed that her decision to leave television was influenced by her experience working with Gregg Wallace on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021. Sykes revealed she made an informal complaint about Wallace, whose behavior she found troubling during her time on the show.
The controversy surrounding Wallace deepened as Vanessa Feltz alleged that he once shared details of a sexual act with people in an elevator.
On Monday, the BBC dismissed calls to cancel episodes of MasterChef: The Professionals, despite mounting criticism. Wallace had apologized earlier for dismissing complaints against him as coming from “middle-class women of a certain age.”
The broadcaster confirmed that two upcoming episodes, scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday this week, will air as planned.
Wallace recently stepped back from his role on the show, as Banijay, the production company behind MasterChef, investigates allegations of past misconduct, including three incidents of inappropriate touching.
