Steven Bartlett Criticized for Spreading Harmful Health Misinformation on Podcast
Steven Bartlett, host of the Diary of a CEO podcast and star of Dragons’ Den, is under fire from health experts for amplifying harmful health misinformation on his top-ranked show, potentially endangering cancer patients.
Bartlett has faced criticism for allowing guests to promote unsubstantiated health claims, including the assertion that cancer can be treated through a ketogenic diet rather than proven medical treatments. Experts have warned that such claims could pose serious risks to vulnerable individuals and have urged listeners to be cautious about following this advice.
A BBC World Service investigation found that Bartlett rarely challenged these assertions. Health professionals told the BBC that failing to dispute disproven claims is particularly dangerous, as it undermines trust in conventional medicine.
The investigation analyzed 15 health-focused episodes of Diary of a CEO and discovered an average of 14 harmful health claims per episode, each contradicting well-established scientific evidence.
