Sweden School Shooting: Suspect Among 11 Dead in Nation’s Deadliest Attack

The gunman was among the 11 people killed in Sweden’s worst mass shooting, which took place at an adult education center in Örebro, located 200 km (124 miles) west of Stockholm.

Police responded to reports of gunfire around 12:33 p.m. local time on Tuesday, engaging in a shootout with the suspect. When the confrontation ended, the suspected shooter was found with a gunshot wound, authorities confirmed.

Panic swept through the school as terrified students scrambled for cover, hiding under desks and barricading themselves inside classrooms to escape the chaos.

Victims in Critical Condition

Örebro officials reported on Wednesday that five individuals remain in "serious" condition following the attack at Risbergska School. The injured include three women and two men, all over the age of 18, who underwent surgery after being admitted with gunshot wounds. They are currently in stable but critical condition at Örebro University Hospital.
