### Amazon Ventures into Online Ordering through Grubhub Expansion

Amazon has unveiled an expanded collaboration with Grubhub to enrich the restaurant delivery experience for its clientele.

Through this partnership, Amazon customers across the United States gain access to ordering from hundreds of thousands of restaurants spanning all 50 states directly on Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app, as per a press release issued by Amazon on Wednesday (May 29).

Prime members can enjoy a complimentary ongoing Grubhub+ membership, valued at $120 annually. This membership encompasses benefits such as no delivery fees on eligible orders over $12, reduced service fees, 5% credit back on pickup orders, and exclusive offers.

Prime members can seamlessly access Grubhub on Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app, eliminating the need to download or switch to the Grubhub app, as highlighted in the release.

Jamil Ghani, Amazon Prime's vice president, emphasized in the release the significance of savings for Prime members, particularly in food delivery. By extending the benefits of no delivery fees and exclusive savings through Grubhub+, Amazon aims to amplify the value proposition of Prime membership.

Grubhub CEO Howard Migdal expressed in the release that the collaboration fosters convenience for Amazon customers. By integrating Grubhub’s extensive network of restaurants directly into Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app, a broader audience can experience the value and service provided by Grubhub+.

Furthermore, Prime members can indulge in unique food pairings and offers through the ongoing "Tune In & Takeout" series, a collaboration between Prime Video and Grubhub, connecting these offerings to members’ favorite shows and movies on Prime Video.

This expanded partnership follows Amazon and Grubhub's previous extension of collaboration in June, nearly a year after their initial announcement of collaboration.

Grubhub has been striving to bolster the adoption of its marketplace by partnering with businesses boasting wide audiences to offer free delivery subscriptions, incentivizing consumers deterred by delivery costs to utilize the service, as reported by PYMNTS.

Meanwhile, Grubhub disclosed in April its expansion into the grocery domain through a partnership with online marketplace Mercato.
