(KRON) — Verizon users found themselves grappling with a widespread outage on Thursday afternoon, confirmed by the company in a series of posts on X.
According to Downdetector, as of 3:35 p.m., 12,599 Verizon users had reported experiencing the outage. Several Verizon users informed KRON4 that they were unable to make phone calls.
Later in the evening, it appeared that the outage had been resolved for many users. By 6:15 p.m., the number of reported outages had dropped to 1,139 users, as per Downdetector reports.
Verizon acknowledged the situation, stating that they are currently encountering "many outages in different areas," in a tweet posted by the wireless carrier.
"We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue," a Verizon spokesperson said in an email to KRON4.
