"The Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal: A Promising Delight for Classic Fans"

Over the past seven years, my journey with the Assassin's Creed series has led me down a path I never anticipated: I've become that type of fan I never envisioned myself becoming—a nostalgic critic yearning for the bygone days. Yet, amidst my sentiments, I recognize and respect the millions of fans who were captivated by the immersive worlds of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.

In this modern era of Assassin's Creed, the focus has shifted towards embodying historical warrior archetypes, akin to participating in a playable episode of Deadliest Warrior, rather than embodying the stealthy essence of an assassin. However, the upcoming mainline installment, Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in feudal Japan, appears poised to bridge this gap.

Ubisoft's approach with Assassin's Creed Shadows involves dividing the series' dual disciplines into two distinct protagonists: Naoe, an agile shinobi equipped with a hidden blade, and Yasuke, the renowned Black samurai who confronts adversaries head-on. In an interview with IGN, Ubisoft revealed that while most missions can be undertaken by either character (with some being character-specific), players will have the freedom to decide whether to engage with Shadows as an Odyssey-style action RPG or as a traditional stealth experience.
