Concerns Over Mike Tyson's Health Prompt Cancellation of Fight Against Jake Paul
Amid assurances that boxer Mike Tyson wasdoing great" following a medical scare during a recent flight, worries about the 57-year-old athlete's well-being have led to the cancellation of his highly anticipated bout against 27-year-old social media influencer Jake Paul.
The match, scheduled for July 20 and heavily promoted by Netflix in collaboration with Paul's company Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), has been put on hold due to Tyson's health concerns. Even Iron Mike has to follow doctor’s orders,Netflix announced on Friday, revealing that Tyson's health issues have forced him to pause his training for the event.
Tyson experienced a medical emergency while on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles last Sunday, feeling nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up just before landing. Medical responders met the flight upon arrival to attend to Tyson's needs.
Although Tyson was treated and released at the airport, doctors later advised him to ease off the rigorous training regimen necessary for a match against someone 30 years his junior. During a follow-up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations, a spokesperson for Tyson stated.
Tyson expressed gratitude to his fans for their support and understanding during this time but affirmed his commitment to getting back into top shape for the fight. However, some medical experts suggested that Tyson's intense training regimen may have contributed to his stomach issues.
In light of Tyson's health concerns, the fight against Jake Paul has been postponed, with a new date to be announced soon. Both Tyson and Paul remain determined to face off in the ring, promising an unforgettable match later this year.
