Report: England Elite League Squad Triumphs 2-1 Over Sweden

England Elite League Squad Defeats Sweden 2-1 in Croatia

The England men’s Elite League Squad began their trip to Croatia with a 2-1 victory over Sweden at Stadion Å RC Sesvete on Friday.

In the first of their two matches this month, Ben Futcher’s side secured a well-deserved win thanks to goals from Will Alves and Dane Scarlett.

England took an early lead when Alves found the net after eleven minutes. Returning to international play after over a year out due to injury, the Leicester City player scored with a brilliant shot from just outside the area, placing the ball in the top corner.

Sweden had their chances, with Kaelan Casey making a crucial goal-line clearance and Tim Prica and Jacob Ondrejka attempting long-range shots to lob Jed Ward. Fortunately for England, neither effort hit the target.

Maintaining the majority of possession, England kept their lead into halftime. Interim head coach Futcher then made several substitutions early in the second half.

England doubled their lead just before the hour mark when captain Dane Scarlett scored from close range, skillfully holding off multiple challenges in the box.

Although Deniz Gul pulled one back for Sweden in the final minute, England held on to secure the win.
