The match, held at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Saturday, showcased Pant's return to form after being sidelined due to injuries from a car crash in December 2022.
Batting first, India set a formidable total of 182 for five, largely thanks to Pant's explosive knock of 53 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma, contributing with 23 runs, provided stability alongside Pant after the early dismissal of Sanju Samson.
Pant's blazing innings, comprising four fours and four sixes, set the tone for India's innings. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya provided late fireworks, with Yadav scoring 31 from 18 balls and Pandya remaining unbeaten on 40 off 23 deliveries, including four sixes.
In response, Bangladesh struggled from the outset, losing wickets early on and finding themselves at 10 for three in the fourth over. Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets in the early stages.
Despite a brief resistance from Shakib Al Hasan (28) and Mahmadullah (40 retired), the Bangladesh innings faltered, eventually managing only 122 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. Shivam Dube's double strike in the final over sealed the victory for India.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, emphasizing the importance of adapting to the conditions. With the win, India gained valuable momentum ahead of their opening group game against Ireland, scheduled for Wednesday, while Bangladesh will kick off their campaign against Sri Lanka two days later.
