Netherlands Triumphs Over Turkey in Quarterfinal Thriller
Despite being the only quarterfinal match that didn’t go into extra time, the Netherlands-Turkey game on Saturday was packed with excitement.
Turkey took the lead in the first half with a goal from Samet Akaydin, who headed in a brilliant cross from Arda Güler. The Netherlands struggled to score until the 70th minute when Stefan de Vrij equalized with a header of his own.
This goal sparked a quick turnaround for the Netherlands. Just five minutes later, Cody Gakpo netted his fourth goal of the tournament, sprinting to the ball in the box and scoring despite being
fouled, giving the Dutch a 2-1 lead.
Turkey fought hard to equalize in the final minutes. They had two shots blocked in the 85th minute before Bart Verbruggen made a crucial save two minutes into stoppage time.
The Netherlands held on to their lead, advancing to the semifinals where they will face England on Wednesday for a spot in the final.

Turkey led 1-0 at halftime with a goal from Samet Akaydin. Despite the Netherlands having more possession (56.6%) and four shots, Turkey had the only shot on goal and more corner kicks (4-0).
