"Game of Thrones" Star Hannah Murray Opens Up About Being Drawn into Wellness Cult

Hannah Murray’s forthcoming memoir will reveal that she was sectioned as a result of her involvement with a wellness cult.

The 35-year-old actress, best known for her roles as Gilly in *Game of Thrones* and as troubled teen Cassie Ainsworth in the series *Skins*, is set to release a memoir detailing her experience of being drawn into a deceptive organization, according to *The Bookseller*.

In a statement about the book, Murray shared that it will tell a “deeply personal story that has lived inside me for many years and which it now feels vital to share.”

She expressed her excitement about working with publisher Helen Conford, noting that their shared vision made it the right collaboration. The memoir, which is set to be released by Hutchinson Heinemann in summer 2026, was secured after a competitive 13-way auction. According to the publisher, the book will explore the "lure" of those who claim they can save us and the deceptive nature of organizations that promise "wellness."

Hutchinson Heinemann described the book as not only a reflection on the acting world but also a deeper exploration of how people conceal their vulnerabilities, making them easy targets for those trained to exploit them.

The publisher added that Murray’s story examines the blurred lines between reality and illusion, between what we must accept and what we wish to be true, and between the solid ground beneath us and a world where anything seems possible if we’re willing to commit.
