Hutchinson Heinemann Secures Rights to Hannah Murray's Memoir in Competitive 13-Way Auction

Hutchinson Heinemann Wins 13-Way Auction for Hannah Murray’s “Astonishing” Memoir

Hutchinson Heinemann has secured the rights to publish *The Make-Believe*, the memoir of *Game of Thrones* actress Hannah Murray, after a competitive 13-way auction. Publisher Helen Conford acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights, including audio, from Harriet Poland at CAA, with the memoir set for a summer 2026 release.

Murray, known for her roles in *Skins*, *Game of Thrones*, *Detroit*, and *Charlie Says*, reveals in *The Make-Believe* her experience of being sectioned in 2017 due to her involvement in a wellness cult. The book is described as an exploration of the fine line between reality and illusion, and the deceptive allure of organizations promising “wellness.”

Hutchinson Heinemann commented, “This is a story about the lure of those who claim they can save us, and the dangerous structure of such organizations. It delves into the acting world, but also reveals how we all conceal our vulnerabilities, making us prey for those trained to exploit them.”

Murray expressed her excitement about working with Conford, saying, “*The Make-Believe* tells a deeply personal story that I’ve held inside for many years, and it now feels essential to share. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Helen Conford, whose vision for the book aligns perfectly with mine.”

Conford praised Murray’s writing, calling it “astute, deeply felt, and compulsive,” adding that *The Make-Believe* will resonate with readers and expand empathy. "We’re over the moon she chose to work with us," she said.
