Lions' edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson carted off with a broken tibia.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Detroit Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson suffered a broken tibia during the team's 47-9 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, creating a tense moment at AT&T Stadium.

Hutchinson sustained the injury to his left leg while sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. As he brought Prescott down, Hutchinson's leg collided with the left leg of teammate Alim McNeill, resulting in a break just above his ankle.

Both Lions and Cowboys players gathered around Hutchinson as medical staff hurried to attend to him. His leg was immobilized with an air cast, and he was taken off the field on a cart.

After the game, the Lions announced that Hutchinson underwent surgery at a hospital in the Dallas area.

Hate it for Hutch. That’s tough," Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. "He’s in good hands right now and being taken care of. He'll stay here for a while, and obviously, he’ll be out for some time. It's hard losing someone like him, but we’ll know more soon and wish him the best.
