STATE COLLEGE – Penn State football delivered a powerful statement tonight, showing their resilience and readiness for the College Football Playoffs.
Ranked No. 7, the Nittany Lions (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) decisively overcame a determined Washington Huskies team, whose record now stands at an even split.
In bouncing back from their tough loss to Ohio State, the Lions put on a dominating display, taking control of the game from the outset. Their 35-6 rout of the Huskies (5-5, 3-4) demonstrated excellence across the board, highlighted by fast starts on both offense and defense.
It was another unforgettable White Out victory at Beaver Stadium.
Quarterback Drew Allar led a precise passing attack, completing 20 of 28 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown, while running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen posted their best combined rushing performance in over a month, totaling 143 yards. Previously quiet wide receivers stepped up, and tight end Tyler Warren shined with eight receptions and two rushing touchdowns.
The defense was relentless, holding the Huskies to only 181 total yards and limiting them to three field-goal attempts.
One of the game’s closing highlights was a 78-yard touchdown run by true freshman Corey Smith on just his third career carry, sealing the Lions’ commanding performance.
This resounding win kicks off their November push toward the expanded College Football Playoffs. To secure a home game in the first round, the Lions must now win their final three games, positioning themselves at 11-1 and setting the stage for a thrilling postseason.
